Sarcasm and personal outcries aside, this was indeed an encouraging news for me. For one, that made all my raging felt somewhat justified now I knew that I was not raging for nothing. This just gave me a second chance to redeem myself with painting again at the Vegas show with other competitors with their fantastically painted army. I charted 14 month on the calendar for the Vegas event (I know it is 16 month away) and figure that should give me plenty time to finish the army to my standard and bring a proper display this time. But as all good things in life, shit will probably happen somewhere in between and screw up my whole schedules.
Another good thing was about the Conquest organization’s correction of their mistake. By doing so, they have made a stand for themselves and align themselves with the majority gamers in the Pacific coast. Granted, question were raised why they couldn’t prevent cheating all together in the first place, but as a fellow T.O. in private events for GW games, I would defend themselves by saying it really is not possible to in the first place. This has indeed shine new light for this indi event since it attracts me for a few reasons: it is local and very close to me, it is one of the few events at a good scale that I don’t have to set up and organize, and it has a good player pool that I considered many which are my friends. Due to the above reasons, I was glad that the T.O. of Conquest NW made result of the cheating issues, and prevented any further slanders to themselves.
I am now checking my calender for possible possibility to attending Conquest BC. Not only because that will give me a chance to enjoy delicious southern Chinese cuisine again (big thumb up in my book), but also because it is ran by “Doc” (you can find his blog in the linky above), a classy fellow whom I played last year at conquest and had a blast with. Let’s hope all is well and I’ll have a chance to showcase my marines again in BC, and with luck, in Vegas as well.
